This is my go-to recipe. It's very simple with only a few ingredients that I happen to keep stocked in my pantry. (I have a strange affinity for sweetened condensed milk. My Mother says it's not natural.)
Simple and Delicious Hot Chocolate
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa
6 cups water
Whisk the cocoa and sweetened condensed milk together in a medium saucepan until the cocoa is well incorporated. Add in the water, continue to whisk until it comes to your desired temperature.
See how simple that was?
Even though sweetened condensed milk is a mass-produced product, I don't mind using it because it only contains natural ingredients. Here's a comparison of a can of it against a packet of hot cocoa mix (Land O Lakes brand).
Can't go wrong with milk and sugar.
I hope you're enjoying winter as much as we are. Happy New Year!

I am going to give this a try! We also tend to have mass quanities of condensed milk on hand. Have you tried making caramel from it yet?
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried that yet, but it looks so good! Have you done it?
DeleteQuite a difference in the ingredients, I'd definitely go with the canned milk!
