Home Canning Tip

Here's a little tip I've learned from experience.

If you're like me and don't have all the new fangled canning accessories available these days and you simply drop your lids in a saucepan and use tongs to fish them out, then this tip is for you!

Drop the lids in with the tops and bottoms alternating, as seen below.

This will make fishing them out SO much easier because they will be less likely to stick together and easier to grab with the tongs.

If you're interested in the new fangled canning accessories that prevent you from having this problem, these little jobbies can help:

Canning Lid Rack

Canning Lid Magnetic Wand

What tips do you have that could help other home canners out there?

  1. Stopping by from Old Fashioned Friday // That's a good tip! I use the magnetic lid wand, but I like the looks of the canning rack too.

  2. I you use Ball lids, they actually don't recommend boiling them anymore because the new BPA free lids have a thinner coating that boiling wears off.
