In Honor of Earth Day {A Giveaway!}

We live rurally, but are lucky enough that the local highway department has a reuse/recycle center at their garage.  Recycling our plastic, metals, paperboard and glass has really cut down on how much garbage we have each week.  We used to have a 30 gallon bag of trash each week and once you take out all that we can recycle locally, we only have a 13 gallon sized bag every week.

Our recycling looked a little messy in all the grocery bags we were using.

Last year we picked up a little recycling organizer at IKEA.  This set has been very handy and works well to disguise the mess.

I love that we've reduced our total garbage by over half, but only wish we had been more serious about recycling years ago.  One thing that makes me fill a little better is the idea that once our adoption is complete and our children are home they will grow up NOT throwing away all of those items.  If we can teach them to recycle, that's more households in the end that will be reducing waste.  And, if I can influence someone else to recycle, that's an improvement as well.  So....

In honor of Earth Day, I'm giving one lucky winner an IKEA recycling set.  The set we have is no longer available, but I think I like this new one better.
